About German Typing Test

This free German typing test uses QWERTZ keyboard with German umlauts (ä, ö, ü) and Eszett (ß). Word Count mode (200 to 2300 words) lets you practice fixed-length German text sessions. Choose Easy (everyday words), Medium (professional), or Hard (advanced).

Frequently Asked Questions

Settings → Language → Add German → QWERTZ included automatically. Win+Space to switch.
German keyboard: ä next to L, ö next to P, ü next to Z, ß next to 0 key.
Select 500 from Words row — type exactly 500 German words. Timer shows elapsed time (not a countdown).
Average: 40–60 WPM. Professional: 60–80 WPM. Practice Medium/Hard daily to improve.
